![]() ![]() There are games that are far along in development that are being converted to UE5 and having their lighting engine upgraded too, which will be out in 1 to 2 years. I guarantee there are major games in early development right now which will look better than this - so 3-4 years, tops. The only thing we've been waiting for to make all this possible is for games to go SSD only. The research paper covering how nanite would work was written in 2004! The workflow doesn't need to change significantly to start making use of all this. All this demo features is a super high polycount due to less optimisation and really good realtime lighting - which is now a one click solution in UE5, with research papers available for others to integrate into their engines. All video game assets in the previous generation were made at a super high level of detail in z-brush and through scanning objects - they were then optimized down.
